Subject Available: Chemistry Physics Zoology Botany Bengali English Language Teaching (ELT) History Sociology Education Commerce/ Management Library & Information Science Minimum Eligibility: A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2- year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or equivalent with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale. Provided candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. Or Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, from 75% to 70% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section. (EWS) candidates following the rules of Govt. of West Bengal. The eligibility marks and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures, Entrance Test: The admission will be based on the criteria as detailed in “Eligibility” section, however, on completion of online application candidates from following two categories may be selected through Netaji Subhas Open University – Research Eligibility Test (NSOU-RET). NSOU-RET will be conducted by the University, a weightage of 70 % for the written entrance test (Part – I) and 30 % for the performance in the interview/viva- voce (Part – II) will be given. Exemption from Entrance Test: The candidate who has qualified for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET or has a valid score in UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED along with minimum eligibility criteria as detailed in the “Eligibility” section of this notification shall be entitled to get exemption from written entrance test (Part-I) of NSOU-RET and may be called directly for interview/vivavoce (Part-II) of NSOU-RET after physical verification of candidature by the University on successful submission of online application form and payment of requisite fee.
