How to apply:
1. The candidates are advised to read the Information Brochure carefully before filling the Application Form.
2. The candidate shall apply for admission to Ph.D. programme through a prescribed form available on the University Website www.igu.ac.in. The applicant shall deposit processing fee of Rs. 1000/- for General Category candidates and Rs. 250/- (for S.C./S.T./B.C./Differently abled candidates of Haryana only)through Demand Draft in favour of Registrar, Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur or through Punjab National Bank Fee Challan available in the concerned Department. The S.C./B.C. candidates belonging to the State other than Haryana will be treated as General Category candidates for all purposes.
3. Application forms for admission to Ph.D. programme in different subjects shall be submitted along with prescribed processing fee for Ph.D. Programme to the office of the Chairperson of the respective University Teaching Department.
4. Separate application form (s) shall be filled up for each subject.
5. Change in Subject/Department or category, once opted for the purpose of admission, will not be allowed. However, if any candidate fills wrong category in the application form, he/she may required to submit a written application (alongwith proof of belonging to the category) for correction of category to the Chairperson of the concerned Department before the last date of submission of application forms.
6. An applicant who is in employment will submit Application Form through his/her employer. If applicant joins service after submission of Application Form, shall also submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) from his/her employer before his/her enrolment. In case, research scholar joins service after the enrolment in Ph.D. course, he/she will have to submit an application to the concerned Chairperson to seek permission from the Vice Chancellor subject to fulfilment of stay condition required under clause 13.2 of the Ph.D. Ordinance of the University. Further, such
candidates are required to complete the stay condition of 180 days.
7. Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur shall notify predetermined total seats to be filled up by each Department on annual basis primarily for UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF (with validity period) candidates. If the seats still remain vacant after the admission through exempted category, the University shall fill those seats through Entrance Test.
8. UGC/CSIR – NET /JRF(with validity period)/GATE/GPAT/Teacher fellowship holders/Awardee of the fellowship by DST (INSPIRE), ICMR, ICSSR or any other equivalent national level fellowship shall be exempted from the Entrance Test for admission to Ph.D. course.
9. The candidates who have qualified the common UGC/CSIR- NET /JRF shall be exempted from entrance test for admission to Ph.D. Course in allied subjects also.
10. UGC/CSIR- NET-JRF(with validity period) candidate is required to give an Undertaking at the time of enrolment to Ph.D. Course that he/she will join for fellowship atleast for 2 years after enrolment, failing which his/her admission will be cancelled by the concerned Chairperson/Director of Department/Institute.
